- An Advanced Shipment Notification is an electronic notification of pending deliveries; a virtual packing list that needs to be sent before the arrival of physical shipment at fulfillment centers for proper labor resource planning.
- After the Purchase Order has been handed over to the carriers, within 24 hours or 4 hours before the arrival – whichever is earlier, suppliers have to inform Amazon of the Advance Shipment notification (ASN).
- The ASN can be created in Amazon Vendor Central manually or EDI suppliers can send EDI 856 (ASN) to Amazon.
- The ASN should include all the same information as on the Routing Request, including now the carriers tracking number, which can be a PRO number for LTL or FTL Shipments, or a Carton Tracking Number in the case of Small Parcel Shipment.
