- Burn Profile is a method of managing (burning down) safety stock between the initiation of stopping replenishment of an item and the discontinue date.
- There are two components to a burn profile.
- The first is a level of aggressiveness.
- This ranges from conservative to very aggressive and tells the system how quickly to get rid of safety stock.
- The second is duration.
- This can be any number of weeks (up to 18) and tells the system over what time period to execute the strategy.
