- It is important to note here that you do not HAVE to enrol in any of Amazon’s packaging certification programs, as long as your products are packaged and packed and shipped in accordance with Amazon’s terms and conditions and are compliant therewith.
- However, should some of your products be shipping in larger packaging as for the SIOC program or you wish to register with one of the packaging programs, this is how you would do it.
- In order to enroll products in the Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging Program, Amazon require Vendors to get their products tested by an ISTA-certified third-party lab and to procure an ISTA6 Packaging Test Report.
- Vendors must then complete the Amazon Vendor Enrollment Template and submit this along with the ISTA6 Packaging Test Report for review and approval.
- A list of labs can be found on the ISTA website or through the Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier (APASS) Network.
- Vendors need to submit two files for each Primary ASIN being enrolled:
- An ISTA6 Packaging Test Report using the approved Amazon ISTA6 Packaging Test Report Template; and
- A completed Amazon Vendor Enrollment Template.
7. You can send only one ASIN to test if the products are similar, so essentially, you would send the parent ASIN for each product for testing.
8. The following ASIN classifications are currently unaffected (for now):
- ASINs that have any Hazmat classifications (ex. ASINs that include Lithium Ion batteries);
- ASINs in Prime Pantry, Amazon Fresh, or media;
- ASINs with its longest side less than 6" or its shortest side less than 0.375" or its median side less than 4" (These are the minimum dimensions required to certify as Tier 1-FFP or Tier 2-SIOC);
- ASINs that are at least eight months old (i.e. more than eight months from the date the ASIN was set up) and have shipped fewer than 250 units in the trailing twelve months; and
- ASINs that are packaged for shipment to Amazon (ex. master carton) in an orientation that nests or interlocks the individual selling units to maximize freight cube efficiency.
9. You can find more information on the Packaging Certifications Processes by going to the Support Center on Vendor Central, clicking on the “View Resources” button near the bottom of the page and searching for and downloading the following documents under the “Legal” heading:
- Amazon Packaging Certification Guidelines;

- Frustration-Free Packaging Seal Brand Usage Guidelines;
- Amazon Packaging Certification Initiative Terms and Conditions;
- Frustration-Free Packaging Logo Artwork files; and
- Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier Network (APASS).
10. Once you have all of the relevant certifications, you can then submit them to Amazon by going to the Support Center and clicking on the “Contact Us” button at the bottom of the page.
